Fond Farewells and Happy New Beginnings

Well, we did it - we finally moved. The moving van arrived on the morning of March 2nd and loaded up our belongings. Ali and I then spent the rest of the week esconced at the Hilton in Dallas by the Galleria while Nabil drove to Philadelphia to be there when the moving van arrived. He arrived on Wednesday night, but no moving van there.

On Friday night, Ali's best friends and their moms hosted a little going away party for us at American Girl. She received some very cute gifts - a kitty alarm clock, a Chinese good luck charm from her friend Alyssa and some cool stationary and other items. My very good friend, Mary Lynn, put together a book of pictures of Ali and Jordan and their friends - I actually cried at the dinner table - it was so beautiful.... Ali was sad to say "good bye" to her friends but excited about her new adventure.

We arrived on Saturday in Philadelphia to be picked up by Nabil - still no moving truck! The truck arrived on Saturday at 6:30 pm so Ali and I stayed at our favorite local hotel - "The Radnor" as she calls it - she likes it because they told her that President Obama stayed there when we was campaigning and she likes his girls so she thinks they stayed there too.

We spent our first night in the new house on Sunday night, March 8th, and she started at her new school the next day. True to my baby girl's very adaptable nature, she felt at home from the first morning at school and to my disappointment but pride and happiness for her, she did not ask for us once all day! And since then, she has been ecstatic to go to school every day and wants to know why she couldn't go on Saturday or Sunday.

Last weekend, we unpacked but took off Saturday night to go to the "funny restaurant" which is actually a funky Moroccan restaurant that has been in Center City for decades - you sit on the floor and eat with your fingers - it is called Marakesh and I have been going there since college when I would visit friends at Penn! (as I said it has been around forever). On Sunday, we went to the Please Touch Museum - Ali's current favorite place on earth - she loves the exhibits and the carousel - unfortunately, the power went out before we hit the carousel but we are going again on Friday with her classmates (those who are in town over Spring Break).

This Morning was Agnes Irwin's spring concert - called "Spring Sing". It was Ali's class and the three Kindergarten classes in the gym - so adorable - all singing songs and playing games together. The music teacher is wonderful - I can see why they all love him!

Here's a picture of Ali with her new class - she is so happy with them and loves the all girls' aspect!

Fun was had by all - we are really enjoying her new school and the moms and girls.

Great update! Loved hearing what you were doing. I can't believe the moving truck arrived several days late. Oh well, at least you got to stay at your favorite hotel. Sweet!

Tell Ali hello from Jordan and Katelyn! It is so funny when we call. Katelyn insists on talking to Ali as well. We so appreciate how Ali always included Katelyn when Jordan and her were playing. So sweet! We miss you!
